Rules for Employment

Failure to comply with the items below may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.
1. Jimmy John’s NumberOne “Golden Rule” IF YOU AGREE TO DO SOMETHING AT A CERTAIN TIME OR ON A CERTAIN DATE AND YOU ARE NOT GOING TO DO IT OR FIND THE COMPANY MAY BE BETTER OFF IF YOU DO IT DIFFERENTLY –CALL YOUR BOSS FIRST BEFORE YOU DO IT!IF YOU ARE GOING TO CHANGE THE DEAL, THEN YOU HAVE TO CALL THE PERSON THAT DELEGATED TO YOU THAT JOB AND LET THEM KNOW. NO SURPRISES!NO EXCEPTIONS!
2. NO CASH PAYOUTS! Emergency payouts are allowed, but you must provide written notification to the Area Manager within twelve hours of emergency cash payouts.
3. Delivery and in-shop orders are to be taken 10 minutes after posted closing time.
4. No free subs to anybody without coupon or cash.
5. No exchanging of meats, (i.e.turkey for ham, or cheese for tuna, etc.)
6. Never provide any veggies or sauce on a slim – EVER!
7. No soda or soft drinks from revenue cups. All management and employees must use cone cups only. Coffee or soda may be consumed in a covered cup in the store before the first cycle of bread comes out of the oven or after the store is closed.
8. All delivery sandwiches are to be bagged by the manager or a designated employee, and a manager or a designated employee must pull off delivery tickets only.
9. When bread is done, you must serve customers that come into the store. Half cycle, mats, umbrellas, signage and Jimmy tunes must be out or up by 9am. Doors must also be unlocked. If this is not complete by 9am, an area manager must be called. 10. Make Subs Great Again, LLC uses a point system for attendance as defined below:
a) Did not report for scheduled shift, but found replacement. 0 Points
Action was approved by management on the employee board.
b) Reported to work within 20 minutes of shift start time:
1. Called GM to notify BEFORE the beginning of shift 0 Points
2. Did NOT call GM before beginning of shift ½ Point
c) Reported to work more than 20 minutes but less than 40 minutes after scheduled shift start time:
1. Called GM to notify before beginning of shift ½ Point
2. Did NOT call GM to notify before beginning of shift 1 Point
d) Reported to work more than 40 minutes after scheduled shift start time:
1. Called GM to notify before beginning of shift 1 Point
2. Did NOT call GM to notify before beginning of shift 2 Points
e) Reported to work more than 60 minutes after scheduled shift start time. 4Points
f) Did not report for shift and did not find replacement:
1. Called GM at least 30 minutes prior to shift start 1 Point
2. Called GM less than 30 minutes prior to shift start 2 Points
g) If you do not call and do not report for your shift, you will be considered
a no call/no show (NCNS). 4 Points
Two consecutive NCNS will be considered job abandonment and a voluntary separation initiated by the Team Member and beyond the Company’s control.
We do not allow people to simply call in sick without finding a replacement for their shift in most situations. However, if you are sick and exhibiting vomiting and/or diarrhea not associated with overindulgence or if you have a sore throat and fever,
you should not report to work until you are symptom free for 24 hours without the aid of medications. You must report such absences to your manager/direct report no later than two hours prior to the start of your scheduled shift whenever possible.
We reserve the right to reasonably request a doctor’s release in order for your absences to be excused. If you are unable to do this, you may be terminated.
Each day of sickness will count as a separate absence except that the absence of two or more consecutive days for the same illness will be counted as one “occurrence” when the Team Member supplies the Company with a medical certification that the Team Member has been under the care of a physician for the days absent.
Disciplinary action for total points over any rolling six-month period:
1-2 Points Coaching
3-4 Points Verbal Warning
5 Points Written Warning
6 Points Termination of Employment
11) Every employee must use the mayo portioner. NO EXCEPTIONS!
12) NO food trades, (i.e. Domino’s pizza for subs). You will get calls from people to trade. NO EXCEPTIONS! No acceptance of free product from outside vendors is allowed.
13) All employees must adhere to the Company Dress Code.
14) The GM is solely responsible for the supervision, contents and operation of the cash register. Even after the GM designates one other person to operate or touch the cash register, the GM is still responsible and accountable for every cent.
15) Only one person will be assigned to a register and that person must count down the register before the start of their shift to confirm the beginning amount of cash assigned to the register. The employee will also count the register at the end of their shift, or be present when the manager does so, and will be responsible for explaining any cash discrepancies.
16) NO SMOKING during your shift or on company premises! Your clothing must not smell like smoke when you are working. 17) An employee who works a full 7-hour shift is entitled to a complimentary meal, consisting of a sub or club, pickle or chips and a soda or bottled water. The specifics of this rule are this:
• The sandwich must be consumed during your shift. You cannot take it home.
• If your shift ends, too bad! You then have the right to purchase an employee sub.
• If you purchase an employee sub, someone other than you must ring it up.
• If you do purchase a sub, it must be ordered and paid for on the customer side of the counter. You must stay there while someone other than you is making your order.
• Ten minutes prior to working or ten minutes after you work is the only time you may purchase an employee sub. After ten minutes, you must pay full price.
• The meal can only be consumed once the opening procedures are completed before 10:30am, or after the after- lunch cleanup is completed. No meal is to be consumed with any of these tasks undone unless doing so would violate state law.
• Any food from outside vendors must be purchased before shift begins.
• You must keep your receipt on hand while consuming product.
• No food behind the counter.
• Customers always come first. No matter what.
18) NO ALCOHOL allowed in the store.
19) The use of menus, bags or any other JJ printed material for notes will not be tolerated at any level.
20) No beverage containers, (i.e. soda bottles, insulated coolers, etc.) are to be filled from the Coke machine or water cooler by an employee, customer or friend. Employees may keep a plastic bottle with a screw-top lid in the cooler for the duration of their shift. Upon leaving at the end of the shift, the bottle must be discarded or taken with them. No bottles are to be visible at any time unless you are physically drinking from it or placing it back in the cooler. No food or drink is to be stored on the manager desk unless the manager is on break. Otherwise it will be thrown out and you will be written up.
21) When selling day-old bread, we do not provide mayo or mustard. NO EXCEPTIONS!
22) We never give out or make change for anyone. We never give cashback on credit/debit cards. We are not the bank – NO EXCEPTIONS!
23) Cell phones are to be used for work-related use only. Cell phones are not to be charged in the shop.
